O'Briens Riverwalk Café in Chicago

O'Briens Riverwalk Café in Chicago

Café O'Briens lines the River Walk along the Chicago River. The food is simple and effective, but the main reason to stop in is the spectacular setting, right on the water with your feet in the skyscrapers.

In addition to traditional sandwiches, burgers, wraps and salads (including an interesting "Chicken Pecan Pasta" combining fresh fruit, pecans, chicken, pasta and a honey-tarragon sauce), we spotted these mini-burgers and mini "corn dogs" on the appetizer menu, a hot dog specialty fried in a kind of doughnut batter, a local specialty.

It's a great place to try the Chicago-style hot dog, invented in Chicago and served at O'Briens with tomatoes, onions, relish and pickles. And don't be fooled! Contrary to appearances, the chef hasn't forgotten anything; as tradition demands, the Chicago hot dog doesn't contain a drop of ketchup! Friendly service.
