Chicago Luxury Hotels

The Palmer House Hilton

Hôtel Palmer House Hilton

Located in the historic Palmer House, this hotel is one of the most emblematic of the city. A gigantic institution, 1640 rooms, a restaurant, several bars, bathing in an authentic and refined atmosphere.

The wonder begins in the glittering, richly decorated lobby. High ceilings, vaulted ceilings. You lose yourself somewhere in the late nineteenth or early twentieth century as you wander the lobby or sip a drink at the lobby bar.

Built in 1871, the Palmer House was rebuilt twice before becoming this giant of more than 1600 rooms.

From its earliest days, the Palmer House Hotel was the preferred residence of stars of the theater, cinema, politics and literature. Oscar Wilde and Mark Twain were among those who stayed here, and for a long time it was the largest hotel in the world from the top of its 25 floors.

In 1945, the Palmer House Hotel was purchased by the Hilton Hotel Group, which, while preserving the authenticity of the building, modernized and enhanced it with many additional services: spa, fitness, indoor swimming pool, hairdresser, bars and restaurants, souvenir shop, etc. Completely renovated, it established its reputation as an essential address in the heart of downtown Chicago and remains one of the two largest hotels in the city.

Steps away from Millennium Park and its many cultural offerings, and less than a quarter-hour's walk from the Willis Tower (Sears Tower) and the shores of Lake Michigan, the Palmer is one of Chicago's most centrally located hotels, right on the chic "Magnificent Mile," a shopping paradise.
